Trump exige el despido de Jimmy Kimmel; el conductor lo acusa de distraer de los archivos Epstein

Los Ángeles, 01 de mayo de 2026.- Donald Trump publicó en su red social Truth Social exigiendo que la cadena ABC despida al conductor Jimmy Kimmel. En su mensaje, Trump escribió: "When is ABC Fake News Network firing seriously unfunny Jimmy Kimmel, who incompetently presides over one of the Lowest Rated shows on Television? People are angry. It better be soon!!!".
La disputa se originó después de que Kimmel hiciera un chiste sobre Melania Trump durante la Cena de Corresponsales de la Casa Blanca (WHCD), diciendo: "Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow". Tras este comentario y el tiroteo ocurrido en el evento, Donald y Melania Trump pidieron el despido del conductor. Kimmel no se disculpó por el chiste, al que calificó como un "light roast".
Durante su programa "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" la noche del jueves, el conductor leyó el post de Trump y respondió: "If incompetently presiding over not just one of but the lowest rating in history is why I should be fired, we should both be out of a job". Kimmel sugirió que la ofensiva del expresidente busca "distract us from the prices he didn't lower on day one, and from the Trump-Epstein files that his attorney general refuses to release, and to distract us from the illegal war he started and can't figure out how to get out of".
El conductor mencionó además que Trump llamó a la cadena Newsmax para llamarlo "a low life" y exigir nuevamente su despido. Durante la transmisión, la actriz Meryl Streep apareció para defender a Kimmel, diciéndole: "You're a prince. You are a Knight Templar. You're carrying the banner of freedom of the press".
En medio del conflicto, la Comisión Federal de Comunicaciones (FCC) inició una revisión anticipada de las licencias de transmisión de televisión de Disney. Ante esto, un portavoz de la compañía declaró que están "confident that record demonstrates our continued qualifications as licensees under the Communications Act and the First Amendment and are prepared to show that through the appropriate legal channels. Our focus remains, as always, on serving viewers in the local communities where our stations operate".
