Sebastian Stan revela que rechazó el papel protagónico de 'The Vampire Diaries'

Ciudad de Mexico, 06 de octubre de 2026.- Sebastian Stan rechazó el papel protagónico de Stefan Salvatore en 'The Vampire Diaries', según reveló el propio actor en el podcast Happy Sad Confused con Josh Horowitz, retomado por The Hollywood Reporter.
"They offered me Paul Wesley’s role", dijo Stan, quien finalmente no se quedó con el personaje que terminó interpretando Paul Wesley. La serie, protagonizada también por Ian Somerhalder como Damon Salvatore y Nina Dobrev como Elena Gilbert, se emitió durante ocho temporadas desde 2009 hasta 2017.
El actor explicó que en ese momento acababa de salir de 'Kings' y se sentía agotado porque el proyecto no funcionó. 'Kings' fue cancelada en NBC después de una temporada en 2009.
"And I had just come off Kings and I sort of felt really burnt out from that not working out and just sort of the idea of thinking, ‘Oh, I’m just going to sign up again for something that probably is not going to get to the second season.’ And I think it was because The Covenant sort of was in that supernatural world, and yeah, I didn’t do it. And then the show went on to be super successful", relató Stan.
El actor también mencionó que 'The Covenant' estaba en el mundo sobrenatural. Stan se dio a conocer con primeros papeles en 'Gossip Girl' y 'The Covenant', y alcanzó la fama mainstream con su papel de Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier en el Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel, comenzando con 'Captain America: The First Avenger' en 2011.
Sobre la decisión, Stan afirmó que no puede mirar atrás y preguntarse '¿qué hubiera pasado?'. "can’t look back and go, ‘Oh, what if?’", señaló, y agregó que cree que todo en su carrera sucedió como estaba destinado.
"Now looking back, I feel grateful in a way ’cause I don’t know if I was really ready for that kind of exposure when I was younger, to be honest", expresó. "Emotionally and mentally, I know what I went through in those years and my focus was all over the place. Maybe that’s just ’cause it worked out the way it did and this is my story, but I’m definitely in a place right now where I wouldn’t change anything", concluyó.
