Productores de 'Dancing With the Stars' detallan casting de temporada 35 y esperan romper sequía de Emmys

Hollywood, 01 de mayo de 2026.- Deena Katz, productora ejecutiva y jefa de casting, y Conrad Green, showrunner de 'Dancing With the Stars', hablaron sobre los planes para la temporada 35 del programa durante un evento FYC para los Emmys realizado el domingo en el Dolby Theatre. La discusión se dio en un contexto favorable, ya que la final de la temporada 34 obtuvo las calificaciones más altas del programa en una década.
Respecto a la nueva temporada, Katz afirmó: "We're deep into it. We're already deep into casting, we're talking themes — we're talking everything". Como parte de este proceso, Maura Higgins, finalista de 'The Traitors', y Ciara Miller, estrella de 'Summer House', fueron anunciadas como las primeras dos celebridades confirmadas para la temporada 2026. El anuncio se realizó previamente en el evento 'Hulu's Get Real House 2026'.
Sobre la incorporación de Higgins, quien había manifestado previamente su deseo de participar, Katz señaló: "Maura has literally manifested this. She texts me every time she's coming to L.A. She wants to have lunch. She's been dying to do the show, and she's fantastic. She's great television. She's funny. She's entertaining". Green agregó sobre la celebridad: "She's so authentic, and gorgeous and likable. I mean, likable goes a long way".
En cuanto a Ciara Miller, su elección estuvo influenciada por el escándalo personal que enfrentó en 'Summer House', donde su exnovio y su mejor amiga revelaron que ahora salen juntos, una situación comparada con el caso de Ariana Madix. Katz explicó: "I already knew Ciara. She was on Traitors, and she's wonderful. She's stunning, she's gorgeous; she's all these things. And then the stuff that happened to her, it was a really of the moment thing that we all felt like it was the right time". Green comentó que el programa podría servir como sanación: "Sometimes you have challenges in your life, but you always have something that could make it better. [DWTS] could heal". Katz añadió un detalle sobre el pasado de Miller: "What we didn't know is in [Ciara's] grandmother's house in North Carolina, that she just bought, there was a room where she used to do MTV videos pretending she was going to be an MTV Veejay".
Los productores también abordaron el spinoff 'Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro'. Green confirmó que el ganador de esta competencia "está secretamente en el banco" y será revelado este verano. Sobre el formato, Green detalló: "[The Next Pro shows] just how many different skills you need to be a pro on Dancing With the Stars. Just being a good ballroom or Latin dancer is the basics. But you have to be able to do group dancing, choreograph, manage difficult people, manage time pressure, format a dance and choreograph for a one-minute routine that's got moments that might get picked up on social media that might make your couple pop".
El equipo busca romper una racha de 10 años sin una nominación en la categoría principal de programa de competencia de realidad en los Emmys. Green argumentó ante los votantes: "I think the Emmy voters understand and appreciate that there's very little like this on television anymore apart from those big award shows. There's very little production of this level on television, certainly not routinely, week after week". Derek Hough, presente en el evento, declaró: "There's no reality show that's as real as Dancing With the Stars. Let's get that Emmy!".
Además de las producciones televisivas, se informó que el primer 'Dancing With the Stars Con' se llevará a cabo en Palm Springs a finales de julio.
