Sus créditos como creador o co-creador incluyen 'The Drew Carey Show', 'The Norm Show' protagonizada por Norm Macdonald, 'George Lopez' y más.
En una publicación de Instagram, dijo: "Here’s the good news: I couldn’t be more proud of the new sitcom Newlyweds that I created with the singular Jamie Lee Curtis. Premieres 10/23!" y agregó: "Here’s the bad news: I got fired off it today. The reason I’ve been given is ‘creative differences.’"
En declaraciones recogidas por Variety, Lerner expresó: "The reason I’ve been given is ‘creative differences.’ The cloudy part: I’m so sad to be separated from the most joyous TV experience of my life. The cast, crew, and writers are unparalleled. The silver lining: the first six episodes were made under my leadership, and I wouldn’t change a thing." También dijo: "Sending all my love and hopes for a long and happy run to everyone who gave their talent and open hearts to make this happen."
La descripción oficial la presenta como "a later-in-life love story about Jeanie (Téa Leoni), a free-spirited woman, and James (Tim Daly), a buttoned-up professor, who marry impetuously after a whirlwind courtship. James only has eyes for Jeanie, but quickly learns that loving her means learning to love her sprawling, eccentric world of friends and family and vice versa."
Lerner permanecerá acreditada como productora ejecutiva junto con Helford, Curtis, Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum y Jason Wang para The Tannenbaum Company, Scott Schwartz y Lionsgate Television. Pam Fryman dirigió y produjo ejecutivamente el piloto. Universal Television es el estudio.
