Los Ángeles, 09 de octubre de 2026.- Matthew Rhys ganó el Emmy a mejor actor en serie de comedia y mejor actor en serie limitada por sus roles en 'Widow's Bay' y 'The Beast in Me' en los Emmys 2026, con lo que hizo historia al ganar Emmys como mejor actor en comedia, drama y serie limitada, informó The Hollywood Reporter.
Keri Russell acompañó a Rhys a la ceremonia y también estaba nominada por su trabajo en 'The Diplomat' de Netflix. En el podcast 'Dear Chelsea' de Chelsea Handler, Russell reveló que le dijo a Rhys que no tenía que agradecerla en su discurso.
"He was just so nervous. I mean, we were all nervous", relató Russell. "And I looked at him a few days before and I said, 'OK, well, can you articulate what you're most nervous about?' And he's like, 'Yeah, having to speak.' And I said, 'Totally.' And I said, 'Take me off your plate. You don't have to thank me; I know you love me, take me off your plate. There's so many people you have to thank. … That's not what this is.'"
Russell añadió: "I don't care if you want to thank the dog walker. You do whatever you want to do. That's your minute. That's your 45 seconds" y "So I just said, 'Take me off your plate.' And we kind of said to each other, 'We don't have to thank each other.'"
La actriz señaló que Rhys todavía recibe críticas de personas a las que no agradeció en su discurso de aceptación de los Emmys 2018, cuando ganó mejor actor en serie dramática por 'The Americans'.
