Jon Stewart sorprende a Stephen Colbert con sillones reclinables en su última aparición en The Late Show

Nueva York, 20 de mayo de 2026.- Jon Stewart realizó su última aparición como invitado en The Late Show el martes, donde sorprendió al anfitrión Stephen Colbert con un regalo consistente en dos sillones reclinables que fueron sacados al escenario por miembros del equipo.
Stewart explicó que el obsequio tenía como propósito prever la nueva vida de Colbert una vez que The Late Show termine el 21 de mayo. "Everybody has been coming up with a bit to sort of end their thing. They sang you a song. They wrote you a poem. They did all that. I am not talented, so I'm not doing any of that", dijo Stewart.
El comediante añadió que el presente era un reconocimiento al esfuerzo de su amigo: "You deserve something tangible, something that you have earned. You deserve a gift that befits the sacrifice and work that you have put into this show, and that can show you the life you can lead and the life that I am leading now that I'm not really in show business". Stewart enfatizó que el tributo no representaba totalmente la alegría que Colbert le brindó como amigo y al país como entertainer, señalando que "No, what this moment needs is something so much more".
Durante la presentación, ambos presionaron un botón en los sillones que comenzó a levantarlos. Stewart bromeó sobre la comodidad de las sillas: "The thing about these chairs is as you get comfortable in them, you start to think to yourself, 'Am I going to have to expend energy to get out of it?'". En un momento de entusiasmo, exclamó: "Stephen, get ready for the ride of your fucking life" y le instruyó: "Press the up button. Press the up button. Press it. Press it". Finalmente, le dijo a Colbert: "My man. You're gonna enjoy watching Matlock in this motherfucker".
La emisión también contó con la actuación de Andra Day, quien salió al escenario para cantar su éxito 'Rise Up'. Además, Steven Spielberg hizo una aparición en el programa. Colbert y Stewart han mantenido una amistad cercana durante casi 30 años, desde que Colbert se unió a The Daily Show en 1997, y Stewart ha realizado apariciones frecuentes como invitado desde que Colbert se convirtió en el anfitrión de The Late Show en 2015.
