James McAvoy revela que 'Split' es la única película que le paga regalías de forma consistente

Ciudad de Mexico, 18 de octubre de 2026.- James McAvoy reveló que la única película de la que sigue recibiendo regalías de forma consistente es 'Split', el filme de M. Night Shyamalan de 2016, según declaraciones que hizo en un episodio reciente del podcast 'Happy Sad Confused'.
El actor, que ha protagonizado películas como 'Speak No Evil', 'Atonement' y 'X-Men: First Class', explicó que los cheques por regalías suelen ser irregulares y de montos mínimos. "You get the odd check for, you know, a couple 100 quid here or sometimes you get checks for, like, 25 cents and you're like, 'It literally costs more to post this than it did for me to cash it'," contó McAvoy.
"But the only one that really consistently pays me is 'Split'", afirmó el actor sobre la cinta en la que tres chicas son secuestradas por un hombre con 23 personalidades distintas diagnosticadas, interpretado por él mismo. Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson y Jessica Sula coprotagonizaron el filme.
McAvoy atribuyó ese rendimiento constante a la economía con la que se produjo la película. "I think it was made for like $6 million or something like that? And let's say they spent 30 advertising it. In our first weekend, we made 40, so we were in profit", dijo. Según las cifras que citó, 'Split' costó 6 millones de dólares y recaudó 138.29 millones en taquilla doméstica y 140.16 millones internacionalmente, para un total mundial de 278.45 millones de dólares.
El actor recordó que el primer pago de regalías llegó casi de inmediato. "Our first residual check came at the end of the first weekend. It was bonkers", señaló.
McAvoy también habló sobre su experiencia trabajando con Shyamalan y lo que aprendió de él. "I very consciously took from many of the directors that I worked with, and subconsciously as well, but the thing I took away from him is his preparedness", comentó.
"He made that film, and [sequel] 'Glass,' on incredibly modest budgets, and very focused on how he would maximize his day and maximize his shots and maximize what he got out of the story by just being incredibly well-prepared and being able to share that and communicate that with the crew", agregó el actor.
