Cynthia Erivo presenta SNL U.K. con monólogo sobre Bake Off y parodia de Wicked en sketch nigeriano

Ciudad de Mexico, 25 de octubre de 2026.- Cynthia Erivo presentó el episodio de SNL U.K. de este fin de semana, en el que dedicó su monólogo a su afición por The Great British Bake Off y participó en un sketch que parodió Wicked bajo el título 'Nigerian Wicked'.
Durante el monólogo, Erivo declaró ser fan del programa de Channel 4, conocido en Estados Unidos como The Great British Baking Show. 'That's right. I'm a huge Bake Off fan', afirmó. La actriz dijo que anhela 'the Hollywood handshake', en referencia al gesto del juez Paul Hollywood, y expresó su deseo de participar en el show: 'It's an absolute dream of mine to be on that show. But there's just one problem: I can't cook under time pressure. I can run a marathon in under four hours, but ask me to bake a cake, well, then I'm screwed.'
Erivo también habló de sus uñas largas: 'Not quite sure why. To me, they're normal. I've had them since I was 16'. Y añadió: 'They're an extension of my body, an expression of my soul, and surprisingly practical. I haven't had to use cutlery in years.' Sobre cómo sería su paso por el programa de repostería, anticipó: 'It would be chaos', y describió una escena imaginaria: 'Making cake batter with one nail, chopping my butter with the other. Noel's telling me I've got 30 seconds left, and Alison just keeps laughing. It's not funny, Hammond. Seriously, what are you laughing at? I've got a soggy bottom, and I'm freaking stressed!'
En el monólogo, Larry Dean, vestido como el host Noel Fielding, subió al escenario y advirtió a Erivo que tenía 30 segundos. Cuando ella preguntó 'For the cake?', él respondió 'No' y aclaró: 'The monologue! You need to get on the show.' Erivo cerró su intervención: 'Okay, 30 seconds. Music. We have music. Blossoms. They're great. And sketches. I'm in them, and adverts. I'm not in them. We've got an amazing show for you tonight. Stick around and watch this!'
En el sketch 'Nigerian Wicked', Erivo interpretó a Glinda con una peluca rubia y un tracksuit de velour rosa, mientras Ayoade Bamgboye dio vida a Elphaba. En la parodia, Glinda abofetea a Elphaba, quien exclama: 'Glinda, you slapped me!'. Glinda responde: 'Yes, because you are very classless.'
La trama lleva a ambas a conocer al Wizard of LagOz, interpretado por Hammed Animashaun. Elphaba protesta: 'Glinda, I can't afford this!', y Glinda responde: 'When we go to the Wizard, it will all pay off'. Ante la mención del Wizard, Elphaba excluye: 'But I'm a virgin!'. En el sketch, Glinda pide que el Wizard le consiga un bolso Birkin y Elphaba un 'skinny BBL'; el Wizard resume: 'She wants a BBL that defies gravity!'.
Al descubrir que el Wizard está quebrado, Glinda comenta sobre su reloj: 'That's a nolex'. Glinda y Elphaba casi comparten un beso y se inclinan dramáticamente antes de que una explosión cubra la pantalla. El voiceover final del sketch dice: 'Nigerian Wicked: LGBTQ!'.
Erivo cuenta con un Emmy, un Grammy y un Tony. En la película Wicked interpreta a Elphaba, mientras Ariana Grande da vida a Glinda.
