Bill Maher recibe abucheos tras chiste sobre el peso de Ariana Grande en 'Real Time'

Ciudad de Mexico, 09 de agosto de 2026.- Durante el episodio del viernes del programa Real Time de HBO, el presentador y comediante Bill Maher provocó fuertes quejas de la multitud tras realizar un chiste sobre el peso de la cantante Ariana Grande. Mientras su audiencia se reía de un primer comentario sobre la ganadora del Grammy, la situación cambió cuando Maher añadió: "Please, we kid. We kid. Maybe that joke will make her eat something".
El incidente ocurrió durante el monólogo de apertura, donde Maher habló sobre archivos de ovnis liberados recientemente por la administración Trump. "I hope the aliens are here, I do. I hope they're here and watching us and they're going to save us. And, by the way, the [Trump] administration this week, just a few days ago, maybe yesterday, unleashed a new trove of UFO files", dijo el comediante.
Maher continuó describiendo el contenido de los archivos: "Interesting things in there. Triangular craft, weird lights over an army base, a stick-like figure with large eyes. Oh, that was just an Ariana Grande video". Fue inmediatamente después de esta línea que el presentador hizo el comentario sobre la alimentación de la artista, lo cual no cayó bien entre los asistentes.
Esta no es la primera vez que Maher hace chistes sobre el peso de alguien. En Real Time en 2019, declaró: "Can fat be beautiful? That's in the eye of the beholder, but healthy no. That's science. I know this is a controversial thing to say now in today's America, but being fat is a bad thing". En aquella ocasión, agregó que "Fat shaming doesn't need to end; it needs to make a comeback. Some amount of shame is good".
Por otro lado, Grande recientemente fue noticia cuando se reveló que la cantante estaría "taking a step back from visibility" después de completar el Eternal Sunshine Tour. Una declaración previamente compartida con The Hollywood Reporter indicaba que ella estaría "taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny".
En el último año, la artista ha enfrentado una ola de comentarios en línea sobre su salud y su cuerpo. La cantante aclaró en uno de sus shows en Chicago que la decisión de retirarse de la vida pública "was not a reactive or impulsive thing". Ella también dijo a la multitud: "It was something that I have decided. A plan that I had quietly made a long time ago. It was a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place".
